Nigeria Begins “Immediate Cash Transfer” To Poorest Households Amid COVID-19 Lockdown

Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, says the ministry has commenced cash transfer to poorest households in the country to cushion effect of the coronavirus pandemic. According to The Cable, the minister said this during a press briefing by the presidential task force on the disease in Abuja, on Monday. Farouq said the ministry has commenced advance payment of conditional cash transfer to the poorest households in the country. She also said the vulnerable group will also be expanded to consider more persons during the infection period.

COVID-19: 2Baba, Jim Ovia, Seun Agbaje And More Donate Funds Towards Combating Pandemic

The Federal Ministry of Health has unveiled the list of several funds donated by the private sector, individuals and federal government in the fight against COVID-19 (Coronavirus). This development comes a day after many Nigerian demanded to know who was in charge of the collection and disbursement of the donated funds for the treatment of the virus. The list include giant establishments such as Access Bank, Zenith Bank and Guaranty Trust Bank who gave N1 billion each with facilities for isolation center, while the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) gave N11 billion. Other individuals who donated N1billion each include,  Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu, Femi Otedola, Abdulsamad Rabiu, Herbert Wigwe, Segun Agbaje, Tim Ovie  and  Dr Paul Eneche  who gave N2 billion worth of materials,   Atiku Abubakar  with N50 million and N10 million from  Tuface Idibia .
