Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip are celebrating 72 years of marriage!

To mark their anniversary, Buckingham Palace released a photograph of a smiling 94-year-old monarch and her husband looking at an anniversary card made by her great-grandchildren Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, alongside other cards and letters from well-wishers.

The picture was taken at Windsor Castle, the queen’s home west of London where the couple are staying during the lockdown. “This new image has been released to mark the 73rd wedding anniversary of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh tomorrow,” the Royal Family’s official Instagram captioned on Thursday.

“In the photograph Her Majesty and His Royal Highness are seen looking at an anniversary card made by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, alongside other cards and letters sent by well-wishers. The photograph was taken by @Chrisjacksongetty in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle earlier this week.”

They followed up on Friday with a candid throwback image of the British Royals taken during their 1947 honeymoon. “Thank you to everyone for your kind wishes for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh on their 73rd Wedding Anniversary ❤️,” the caption read.

Queen Elizabeth and 99-year-old Prince Philip married in London’s Westminster Abbey on November 20, 1947, just two years after the end of World War II.
