Another nomination Monday came and the Big Brother Naija “Pepper Dem” housemates did the usual, by choosing the housemates they feel should be evicted from the house. Rapper Meek Mill has officially won his battle to receive a new trial relating to a 2008 conviction on gun and drug charges. The entire conviction has been overturned and Meek will get a new trial, thanks to overwhelming evidence of police corruption. Meek’s parole violation was also overturned, and now for the first time in over a decade, the Philly rapper is a free man. The Nigerian Police have released picture of the Deputy Police Commissioner, Usman Umar Belel that was killed during a clash between Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, IMN also known as Shiites and the Nigerian Police Force at the National Assembly area earlier today in Abuja. He was reported to have been hit by a bullet while trying to pacify the protesting Shi’ite members. He later died at an undisclosed hospital and has been buried this evening according to Islamic rites. His janaiza prayers were held about some few hours ago at the Abuja Central Mosque.

Mexican drug lord  Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera,  popularly known as  El Chapo  has been found guilty of running a murderous criminal enterprise that smuggled tons of drugs into the United States over three decades, and thus sentenced by a US judge on Wednesday to spend the rest of his life in prison. US district Judge Brian Cogan imposed the sentence of life plus 30 years, which was mandatory under the law, at a hearing in federal court in Brooklyn. Guzmán, 62, was found guilty by a jury in February of trafficking tons of cocaine, heroin and marijuana and engaging in multiple murder conspiracies as a top leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, long known as one of Mexico’s largest and most violent drug trafficking organizations. Pa Reuben Fasoranti Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, has stated that it has received information that the daughter of the organisation’s chairman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, has been killed by persons suspected to be herdsmen. According to Punch, the spokesman for Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, made this known on Friday. According to Odumakin, the 58-year-old woman was heading to Ore Junction from Akure, Ondo State, when she was attacked and shot by the herdsmen. The officer sprung into action and arrested two cab robbers. The Dubai Police have honoured an officer for single-handedly chasing after two men who had robbed a taxi and arresting them. Officer Mustafa Awad Yahya from the traffic department was honoured by Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, on Sunday. The officer's son was present during the ceremony. "Officer Mustafa did not think twice before responding to a police alert about the cab robbery," the police chief said. "He managed to chase after the two robbers in his police patrol and arrested them." The officer, however, brushed off the praises, saying he was only performing his duty. Rapper, Lanre Dabiri, popularly known as Eldee the Don, has said he doesn’t regret leaving the Nigerian music industry at all. In an interview with Saturday Beats, he noted that every area of his life had been affected positively by his decision to leave music.
