A$AP Rocky Arrested in Sweden on Suspicion of Assault After Videos Surface Online

A$AP Rocky has been arrested in Stockholm, Sweden along with three others for suspected “gross assault,” CBS News reports.
The incident first emerged yesterday when footage appeared online of an apparent attack involving the artist sometime before he was due to perform at SMASH hip-hop festival in Stockholm.
The first clip emerged on Reddit and appeared to show a group attacking a man in the street. Stockholm police press officer Mats Eriksson told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, “He has been kicked. He also has cuts on both of his arms. It is caused by some type of object, but not a knife.”
Later, clips filmed prior to the incident were published by A$AP Rocky himself, showing him and his associates engaged in what appeared to be a dispute with two young men regarding headphones or a cellphone.
In Rocky’s Instagram post, the rapper and his associates can be seen attempting to get the two men to walk away, with the rapper writing in his caption, “SO A FEW DRUG ADDICTS ARE NOT MY FANS , WE DONT KNOW THESE GUYS AND WE DIDNT WANT TROUBLE , THEY FOLLOWED US FOR 4 BLOCKS , AND THEY WERE SLAPPING GIRLS BUTTS WHO PASSED , GIVE ME A BREAK.”
In the video, a woman off-camera can be heard saying that one of the men “slapped my ass and my girlfriend’s ass.” Watch the clip below.

No information about the relationship between the four people arrested has been released as yet. Under Swedish law, Rocky and the others can be held for up to three days before appearing before a judge to face formal charges. A Swedish prosecutor’s office statement said the investigation is still in “an initial stage.”
